Wake Forest alum Peyton Perea is returning to the NC Courage of the NWSL for the 2020 season.
CARY, N.C. -- Wake Forest alum Peyton Perea signed a contract with the NC Courage for the 2020 fall season, the organization announced Monday.
Perea spent the 2019 season with Civitas Santa Teresa Badajoz in the Primera Iberdrola in Spain. She previously had a national team replacement contract with the Courage last year.
"We're elated for Peyton to be back in North Carolina and competing in the NWSL," head coach Tony da Luz said. "She played a huge role in our program and is certainly deserving of playing in the top women's soccer league."
At Wake Forest, Perea was a four-year starter and totaled 12 goals and five assists in 63 games. She earned All-ACC honors in the midfield in 2018.
"Peyton understands the expectations of putting on a Courage uniform and she certainly has the talent and qualifications to be a major success here," NC Courage head coach Paul Riley said in a release. "She is poised, mobile, and has a fantastic range of passing. She is a tempo midfielder who finds the ball and keeps the team ticking during important game moments. She has evolved her game since she was last with the club and the experience she gained in Europe bodes well for the team."
