Creson Named Demon Deacon Director of Spirit Programs and Events

Christy Creson has been named the Director of Spirit Programs and Events, and will serve as the new head coach for the Demon Deacon cheerleading, dance, and mascot programs.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Christy Creson has been named the Director of Spirit Programs and Events, and will serve as the new head coach for the Demon Deacon cheerleading, dance, and mascot programs.
Through this new role, Creson will serve as a member of the Wake Forest Fan Experience team, working to develop and enhance the atmosphere at all Wake Forest events to provide the Best Fan Experience in North Carolina.
"Christy is extremely talented and stood out as the right person to lead this talented group of Demon Deacons as we move forward in enhancing our fan experience," Associate AD Rhett Hobart said. "Among a deep field of applicants, her character, care for her students, and vision for building a program was apparent."
"I am very excited for this opportunity to be part of the Wake Forest community," Creson said. "My goal is to elevate the fan experience through Spirit and provide an exceptional and entertaining gameday atmosphere through Cheerleading and Dance."
Creson comes to Wake Forest after a successful 10-plus year tenure at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C. (March 2010 -- July 2020). While at Lenoir-Rhyne, she served as the coordinator for the cheer and dance programs and handled the mascots, Joe and Josie Bear. Creson led the Bears to the 2019 National Cheerleaders Association Division II Gameday National Championship where the spirit team took home the title.
Additionally, she served as the co-head coach of the Gardner-Webb University dance team from April 2007-August 2009.
Creson has professional experience as a dancer for the Charlotte Bobcats and a cheerleader for the Carolina Panthers. She was named Mrs. North Carolina America in 2014. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Lenoir-Rhyne in 2006.
