WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest head women's soccer coach Tony da Luz announced Wednesday the addition of Brittany Cameron as an assistant coach.
Cameron comes to Wake Forest after two seasons at San Francisco State, including one year as the head coach. A former professional goalkeeper, Cameron will oversee the keepers at Wake Forest.
"Brittany brings a wealth of high-level soccer experience to our program both as a pro player and college coach," da Luz said. "She is an intense competitor and will bring the best out of our players. She loves the game and shows it in every player contact. We just hired an exceptional coach."
Cameron had an extensive pro career, including three years in the NWSL, one in the WPSL and three in WPS, also spending parts of four seasons in Japan.
"First, I want to thank head coach Tony da Luz for giving me the opportunity to be part of something special here at Wake Forest," Cameron said. "I look forward to being a part of the best conference in the ACC, and a prestigious academic institution like Wake Forest. This opportunity is a dream come true and I'm excited to jump right in!"
Before arriving at San Francisco State, Cameron also had collegiate coaching stops at Dartmouth (2012-13), Niagara (2011) and her alma mater, San Diego (2009) while balancing her playing career.
She was a member of the U.S. National Team player pool in 2012 and was a co-captain with Sky Blue FC, where she was named team MVP in 2015 after leading the NWSL with 87 saves.
Cameron was with Sky Blue from 2013-15, also playing on loan with Vegalta Sendai until 2016. Before that, she spent 2011 and 2012 with the Western New York Flash. She competed with FC Gold Pride in 2010 and made her pro debut with the Los Angeles Sol in 2009 after being the No. 52 overall selection in the 2009 WPS Draft.
Cameron graduated from the University of San Diego in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in communication. The Dublin, California, native was the 2008 West Coast Conference Defender of the Year and lettered four seasons for the Toreros.
