Wake Forest Takes Second at Arizona Intercollegiate

The Deacs had four players finish inside the top 15.
Tucson, Ariz. - The Wake Forest men's golf team finished in second place by six strokes to the host school, Arizona, at the Arizona Intercollegiate. After having the best scorecard in the field for the second round, the Deacs had the second-lowest score in the final round to finish four over par at 856. None of the seventeen schools shot under part on the final day.
Wake had four Deacs finish inside the top 15 after having four finish inside the top 20 last week in Florida. After shooting a field-best 64 in the second round, freshman Michael Brennan closed out the event with a 71 on the final day to finish in a tie for second. Junior Alex Fitzpatrick took fourth after carding a 66 and 71 in his second and final rounds, respectively. Both earned their best finishes of the season so far.
Sophomore Mark Power finished in a tie for 10 th, just four strokes back from Fitzpatrick. Senior Eric Bae had his best finish so far this season, coming in at T14 and just one stroke behind Power. Senior Parker Gillam finished T31and individuals Marco Steyn and Fulton Smith finished T59 and T74, respectively.
What's Next
After playing two weeks in a row, the Deacs will have a couple weeks off and be back in action Feb. 14-16. Wake will travel south to the Kiawah Invitational at Oak Point Golf Club in South Carolina. The tournament will be hosted by the College of Charleston.
