CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's golf team sits at the top of the team leaderboard and Rachel Kuehn leads all players in the field heading into tomorrow's final round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invite.
Rachel Kuehn shot a career-low 63 in the second round. That mark puts her at the top of the all-time list for lowest 18-hole score in program history, knocking off current LPGA member Jennifer Kupcho's 64 from the 2018 NCAA Regional. The score is also the lowest ever recorded at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invite, which has been played since 1976. Kuehn recorded nine birdies on the day and zero bogeys during her record-breaking round, with four on the first nine and five on the second nine. She leads the field by three strokes, ahead of Clemson's Melena Barrientos and Duke's Erica Shepherd, who are each at eight under.
Mimi Rhodes fired off her best round of the event so far in the second round, finishing the day with a two-under score of 70 to put her at three under for the event. Three birdies and two bogeys gave her the one-under edge at the turn, and she ended her round after a birdie on 17 to finish two-under for the day. Rhodes is currently inside the top 15 at T11.
Virunpat Olankitkunchai continued her steady play, shooting even par for the second round to remain at even par for the event and is currently T27. Carolina Chacarra also registered an even-par 72 in the second round and remains inside the top 20 at T17.
