Lanckohr, Friedman Receive 2021 All-ACC Honors

For the second-straight year, junior Meike Lanckohr earned First Team All-ACC accolades and Nat Friedman landed on the conference’s second team.

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest field hockey junior midfielders Meike Lanckohr and Nat Friedman were named to the 2021 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey team, as announced by the league Wednesday afternoon.

Lanckohr, who was selected to the All-ACC first team, and Friedman, who landed on the second team, received All-Conference accolades for the second-straight year after anchoring Wake Forest's offense throughout the entire 2021 regular season. 

Lanckohr has led Wake Forest's offense with a team-high and career-best nine goals, which is tied for second in the ACC. In 2021, Lanckohr has found the back of the net in seven of her 12 appearances. 

After scoring a trio of goals in wins over Duke and UMass, Lanckohr was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time of her career.

In addition to her First Team All-ACC distinction last season, Lanckohr was named a NFHCA All-American and a First Team NFHCA All-Region selection. 

Friedman has dished out a career-high and team-best eight assists in 2021, which is tied for the ACC lead. During the regular season, Friedman assisted on a Wake Forest goal in seven matches, highlighted by a career-best two assists against App State on Sept. 4. In addition to setting up her teammates, Friedman notched goals against James Madison (Sept. 12) and VCU (Oct. 22). 

On Oct. 20, Friedman was named to Team USA's Junior World Cup team that will head to Potchefstroom, South Africa on Dec. 5-16.

No. 21 Wake Forest returns to the turf on Thursday, Nov. 4 in the opening round of the ACC Field Hockey Championships against No. 10 North Carolina on ACC Network at J.S. Coyne Stadium in Syracuse, N.Y.  The semifinals of the tournament is slated for Friday, Nov. 5 before the ACC Championships will take place on Sunday, Nov. 7.
