The Demon Deacons are set to make their 21st overall appearance in the NCAA tournament and it will be the 10th time Spry Stadium has hosted women’s soccer first round of competition.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest women's soccer team has been selected to host the NCAA Division I Championship first round at Spry Stadium for the 10th time in program history.

The Demon Deacons (15-5, 6-4 ACC) are hosting the first round for the third time since 2017. It is the Deacons' 21st overall appearance in the NCAA tournament.

Wake Forest currently is ranked No. 25 in the country, as the Demon Deacons have been placed in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll last week for the first time since September 5, 2019.

Last time out, the Demon Deacons lost a heartbreaker to No. 2 Florida State, 2-1 (OT), in the ACC Championships semifinals after upsetting then-No. 2 Duke in the First Round of the ACC Tournament.

Action begins Sunday, November 14 at 1 p.m. when Wake Forest takes on Harvard (12-2-1, 5-2-0 Ivy). The winner will take on No. 2-seed Michigan or Bowling Green next weekend.

"I am really proud of the group," head coach Tony da Luz said. "This team has proved that we can beat anyone in the country. In the last four games we have reached a higher level of performance. I am happy for the players to play at Spry again, especially this senior group. Harvard is a tough opponent; I have watched them throughout the season and they have a lot of good players. We are going to have our hands full but our preparation these last couple of games is going to help us down the stretch."

Ticket prices and sales information will be released for the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship first round match on November 14 at Spry Stadium soon; keep an eye on GoDeacs.com for updates.

W. Dennie Spry Soccer Stadium is home to the Wake Forest men's and women's soccer programs. Considered one of the top soccer facilities in the country, the 3,000-seat stadium is considered a jewel in Wake Forest's family of athletic facilities and gives the Demon Deacons a true home field advantage.

After the conclusion of the Quarterfinal Round, the remainder of the NCAA Championships will take place at the Stevens Stadium in Santa Clara, CA December, starting with the Semifinal Round on Friday, December 3 to Sunday, 5.
