Wake Forest Sports Hall of Famer Tracy Connor-Riddick Joins the Deac2Deac Podcast

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Tracy Connor-Riddick's name appears often throughout the Wake Forest women's basketball record book. During Connor-Riddick's five year stint with the Demon Deacons' she became a member of the 1,000-point club and the 600-rebound club.
Connor-Riddick was heavily recruited out of South Rowan High School in Landis, N.C. Connor-Riddick had received scholarship offers from multiple women's basketball powerhouses. In the end, she decided to sign with Wake Forest, the team she had supported since she was a kid.
The Landis, N.C. native earned a starting spot with the Demon Deacons in freshman year. As a freshman, she averaged 20.6 points per game, the second-highest average points per game in a single season in program history. She scored 576 points in her freshman season, the third-most points in a single season in program history.
Connor-Riddick also averaged 11.6 rebounds per game during her first season with the Deacs, the best rebound percentage in a single season in program history. Connor-Riddick recorded double-digit points in all 28 games of the 1992-93 season. Connor-Riddick was named ACC Rookie of the Year for the 1992-93 campaign and earned Freshman All-American honors.
The record for the most rebounds in a single game is still held by Connor-Riddick when she grabbed 22 rebounds against NC State in 1993. In that same game, she scored 35 points en route to a double-double. Connor-Riddick holds the record for average points-per-game in a career with 17.6 and average rebounds-per-game in a career with 9.5. She led the Demon Deacons in scoring in four of her five years with the Deacs. Connor-Riddick still ranks within the top-10 in scoring, rebounding, free throw attempts, field-goal percentage, and career double-doubles.
Connor-Riddick was the first African American woman to be added to the Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame when she was inducted in 2016.
Today, Connor-Riddick works as a clinical affairs manager with Lungpacer Medical in Denver, Colorado. She has been conducting important research to help fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
