Wake Forest Lands Three on United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team

Parks, Smart and Menta Selected to Atlantic Region Squad.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Coming off one of the best seasons in program history, Wake Forest had three players named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region Team last week, with Kaitlyn Parks, Shayla Smart and Jenna Menta being honored. All three landed on the All-Region team for the first time as Demon Deacons.
Kaitlyn Parks (First Team)
Earning Second Team All-America honors, Parks earned all-region designation for the first time in her career as a first team honoree.
Parks, a redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper, is the first Wake Forest player since 2011 to earn All-America recognition and became the third to be named to the Second Team. Parks led a young Wake Forest backline by starting 20 of the 22 matches. Parks earned 14 wins with nine clean sheets, tied for the second-most in program history and 15th most in the nation. Parks earned a 0.78 goals against average, giving her the third best goals against average in a single season in program history.
Shayla Smart (Second Team)
One of the most potent scorers in the ACC this year, Smart finished the season with 11 goals and three assists, ranking seventh in the ACC with 25 points. Suiting up in all 22 matches, Smart finished the season tied for seventh in program history in a single season. She will earn her first All-Region award to cap off her incredible career in the Old Gold and Black.
Jenna Menta (Third Team)
A graduate starter and key contributor to incredible offensive play, Menta finished her season with the Demon Deacons on the highest of notes. The Somers, New York, product led the team in assists with seven (seventh most in a single season) and knocked in six goals, including leading the Deacs to an upset victory of No. 2 Duke in the ACC Quarterfinals. Menta led the offense to 43 goals this season which is the most goals a Wake Forest team has scored since 2011 (52).
Wake Forest joined Duke (five nods), Florida State (four nods), Notre Dame (four nods), Virginia (four nods), North Carolina (three nods), Clemson (three nods), NC State (two nods), Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh as ACC Conference schools to earn Atlantic All-Region recognition (30 total selections) this season.
