Jones ACC Championship Highlights Day 1 at ACC Indoor Championships

In addition to junior Tony Jones winning the Deacons first high jump championship in program history at the league championship meet, Kenton Bachmann, Archie Wallis and Aleeya Hutchins qualified for Saturday’s 800m Run finals in the men’s and women’s races, respectively.
CLEMSON, S.C. -- Wake Forest junior Tony Jones ended day one at the ACC Indoor Championships with an ACC Championship in the high jump as he leaped a personal-best tying mark, 2.16 meters. His victory in that event is the first Demon Deacon league title in the men's high jump in program history.
The Bangor, Pa. native, who improved off a fifth-place finish in 2020, is the first student-athlete to earn an individual crown since Robert Heppenstall placed first in the 800m run at the 2019 ACC Indoor Championships. Additionally, Jones is the 14th Deacon to win an ACC title.
Overall, this is the 18th individual championship at the indoor meet in program history.
In addition to the junior high jumper, junior Kenton Bachmann, junior Archie Wallis and sophomore Aleeya Hutchins qualified for Saturday's 800m Run finals in the men's and women's races, respectively.
Among the men's and women's weight throw, high jump and the 800m run, Wake Forest tallied six personal best marks on Thursday. With that, complete results from Thursday's events, this weekend's schedule and all meet information for the week is below.
Competition continues on Friday for the Demon Deacons with the meet airing on ACC Network Extra.
