Deacs Improve to Fourth after 36 Holes of Valspar Augusta Invitational

Four Wake Forest women’s golfers sit inside the top 25.
Augusta, Ga. - The Wake Forest women's golf team sits in fourth place after the second round of the Valspar Augusta Invitational, a three-spot improvement from where they sat after the first round earlier today.
The Deacs improved nine strokes on their second 18 holes to jump ACC foes Virginia, Virginia Tech and Louisville on the leaderboard. They also cut into the lead of the top three teams, with just 11 strokes to make up in the final round to separate themselves into the top three spots.
Senior Siyun Liu is having her best outing of the year so far, leading Wake Forest with 11 birdies. She started the day with two birdies to lead off the Deacs and birdied two of her last four in the first round. The momentum continued as she birdied two of her first five holes of the second round and birdied two of her final four holes to end the day inside the top 10, currently in a tie for ninth.
Sophomore Lauren Walsh is just two strokes behind Liu at T14. After shooting an even par first round, she had four birdies on her first nine holes of the second round and shot even par on her final three holes of the day to stay inside the top 15.
Sophomore Rachel Kuehn and freshman Mimi Rhodes are inside the top 25 heading into the final day. Kuehn led her team with 26 pars on 36 holes and only recorded one bogey in her final round. She and Rhodes are just one under par in a tie for 23rd.
Sunday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00am ET.
