Wake Forest Director of Track & Field announced the addition of South Alabama graduate transfer distance runner, Carolien Millenaar.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest track and field team bolstered their women's distance running group with the addition of South Alabama graduate transfer Carolien Millenaar for the 2021-22 season.

Millenaar, a Sørvad, Denmark native, is a South Alabama school record holder in the steeplechase and has earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors in multiple events the past few years. Academically, Millenaar was a biology major at South Alabama. At Wake Forest, she plans to enroll in the sustainability program.

"We are so excited to welcome Carolien (Millenaar) into the Demon Deacon family," Assistant Coach Ashley Bastron said. "She had a strong fall cross country season, winning her conference championship and qualifying for NCAA Cross Country Nationals. That championship experience is going to help our team immensely. She has a great range from 800 meters to 6,000 meters and it is going to be fun to explore which event she will specialize in on the track next year. Carolien's character, strong academics and leadership stuck out to us right away during the recruiting process and I know she will make a positive impact on our team, both on and off the track. I have no doubt she will make our Deacon Nation very proud."
