WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's basketball program has signed Indiana State transfer, Jake LaRavia, who earned Second Team All-MVC accolades last season as he averaged 12.5 points and tied for the team-high in rebounding at 6.1 boards in 25 games played. Additionally,  the 6-9 LaRavia averaged 11.8 points and 6.2 rebounds in league play.

Academically, LaRavia was a sport management major and boasted a 3.30 grade point average at Indiana State and was a 2021 All-Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Second Team honoree.

"Jake is a multi-dimensional player who possesses outstanding size and skill. I love how Jake will go get a defensive rebound and lead the break off the dribble. He scores the ball inside and out and his quick feet give him the ability to defend multiple positions on the floor. Jake played for an outstanding coach, and my longtime friend Greg Lansing at Indiana State, who prepared him for this moment. We are extremely excited that Jake has decided to be a Demon Deacon," said Head Coach Steve Forbes.

Over the course of his two seasons with the Sycamores, LaRavia started 50 of 55 career games. He has a career field goal percentage of 50.0 and shot 71.5 percent from the free throw line on 193 attempts. LaRavia recorded a career-high 27 points against Ball State on December 19, 2020 and pulled down a career-high 14 boards at Valparaiso on Feb. 26, 2021.

As a freshman in Terre Haute, Ind., LaRavia was named to the MVC All-Freshman team and All-Newcomer team after starting 25 of 30 games and averaging 9.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. He ranked ninth-best in the MVC in rebounding and hit 53 percent of his shots that season which was 10th-best in the conference. Additionally, LaRavia recorded 35 blocked shots that ranked fourth in the league and his 2.5 offensive rebounds per game were fourth.

A standout at Lawrence Central High School in Indy, LaRavia averaged a team-leading 17.9 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game as a senior. The Bears recorded a 22-4 record and the program's first sectional title since 2012. He shot 42.6 percent from the 3-point line as a senior and earned Indiana All-State honors. Academically, LaRavia was named First Team Academic All-State after his senior season, one of just 39 Indiana high school boys' players to receive the honor.

LaRavia has three years of eligibility remaining.
