Orlando Pride has signed Ally Haran to a one-year contract.
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Pride of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) announced on Thursday the signing of Wake Forest women's soccer alumnus Ally Haran to a one-year contract. With the deal, Haran re-joins the Pride after featuring for the side at the NWSL Fall Series on a short-term contract last season.
"She has persevered and shown strong resolve in pursuit of this contract with the Orlando Pride and she deserves the acknowledgment," head coach Tony da Luz said. "Ally was our Captain and was always a stabilizing presence in our backline, she quietly always gets the job done. I have no doubt that she can succeed as a starting centerback in the NWSL, people will now get to see her true quality."
Haran was a two-year captain for the Demon Deacons and started 66 of 67 games played. She tallied an impressive 6,101 minutes of playing time and helped lead the Deacs to 28 total shutouts, including 11 her senior year. Offensively she scored four goals and collected three assists.
"My time at Wake Forest has truly shaped me into the player I am today," Haran said. "Tony and the coaching staff pushed us all four years and believed in us through every game and never let us stop grinding. Even now, I still have an unbelievable support system through the Demon Deacon family."
Haran made two appearances in the NWSL Fall Series in 2020. In the final match of the series against North Carolina, Haran scored her first professional goal to even the score, overcoming a 3-0 deficit to tie the Courage 3-3.
"I am excited to officially be a part of the Orlando Pride," said Haran. "To be able to train and compete alongside so many great players on a day-to-day basis will only help improve my game. I look forward to being able to bring my set of skills and contribute to this team."
Prior to Orlando, Haran spent time with the Houston Dash and North Carolina Courage following a year in Iceland with UMF Selfoss. While in Iceland, she started 19 matches and netted two goals before eventually being named to the Pepsi-Deildin 2018 Team of the Year.
"I am incredibly proud of Ally, over the past three years, she has been to Seattle, Iceland, NC Courage, Houston Dash and now Orlando trying to make her dream a reality," said da Luz.
