Gillam Leads Deacs on First Day of John Hayt Invitational

Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. - The Wake Forest men's golf team sits in the middle of the field heading into the final round of the John Hayt Invitational.
After 36 holes of play today, senior Parker Gillam leads the Demon Deacons in the field, sitting T16 and just one over par. Gillam had the most consistent day on the links for Wake Forest, shooting an even-par 72 in the opening round and closing the day with a 73 on the card for the second 18.
Freshman Michael Brennan was the only Deac to shoot an under-par round on the first day at Sawgrass Country Club, carding a 69 on his first 18 of the day. He currently sits one stroke behind Gillam in a tie for 20th.
Sophomore Mark Power was also a steady presence for the Deacs. After shooting a 75 on the first 18, Power improved to 74 on the second 18. He currently sits T35 heading into the final day. Freshman BJ Rogillio sits on stroke behind Power at T48 and senior Eric Bae rounds out the lineup at T59 after the first day of play.
The final round will begin with split tee tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m. ET. Wake Forest tee times will be announced when made available.
