Demon Deacons Conclude Play at John Hayt Invitational

Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. - The Wake Forest men's golf team wrapped play at the John Hayt Invitational, hosted by North Florida, in eighth place.
Senior Parker Gillam led the way for the Deacs all three rounds, carding scores of 72, 73 and 73 to keep him inside the top 20 at T18. Freshman Michael Brennan finished just one stroke behind Gillam at T20, carding rounds of 69, 77 and 73. Sophomore Mark Power had his best round on the final 18, with a scorecard of 71 after shooting 75 and 74 during the first two rounds. He came in one stroke behind Brennan at T27.
Freshman BJ Rogillio and senior Eric Bae finished in a tie for 44th. Bae also had his best round on the final day, shooting a 71 to recover from his 79 and 74 scores on day one. Rogillio finished with a 76 and two 74's on the scorecard for the event.
Coach's Comments
"We didn't play our best golf this week, but that happens in this sport. One bad day or one bad tournament doesn't define anything. Now we've got some things to work on so we're going to get back to Winston-Salem and get ready for Calusa Pines. We've got a bunch of guys who work really hard, we'll be just fine."

Wake Forest will be back in action at the Calusa Cup April 4-6 at Calusa Pines in Naples, Florida. The event is hosted by the University of Iowa with two other ACC teams, Florida State and Georgia Tech, in the field.
