Two Deacs sit inside the top 25.
ALPHARETTA, Ga. – The Wake Forest men's golf team sits five strokes back from securing a spot in match play with 18 holes left to play at the 2021 ACC Championships.
Sophomore Mark Power ended the first day as the top finisher for the Demon Deacons, carding a one-under 69 in the first and second rounds. After a slow start with two bogeys in his first nine holes of the day, Power went on to record three birdies in his second nine holes of the first round to sit T9.
He started the second round steady, with two bogeys and two birdies on the first nine. After his second bogey on the par-4 ninth hole, Power went on to record three birdies in a row on holes 10, 11 and 12. He shot birdie-par-par on his final three holes of the day to finish the second round and sits XX with a two-under score of 138.
Freshman Michael Brennan sits T23 with a one-over score of 141. Four birdies and four bogeys over his first 18 holes of the day kept him at even-par heading into the second 18. Four more birdies on his second 18 aided in the recovery from a triple bogey on his first nine of the second round.
Freshman BJ Rogillio and senior Parker Gillam each sit T28 with a 36-hole score of two-over 142. After shooting three over par in his first round, Rogillio rebounded with a one-under 69 in his second. He started the second round with two birdies on his first four holes and was able to carry that momentum through the rest of the round. Senior Eric Bae is two strokes further back, T35 after shooting a two-over 72 in each of his rounds today.
Tee times for Saturday's final round of stroke play will begin at 7:30 a.m. ET. Wake Forest will begin at 7:30 off the 10th tee and will be paired with Florida State and Georgia Tech.
