No. 11 Wake Forest Looks Forward to No. 2 UNC

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Following two dominant victories over No. 32 VCU and Coastal Carolina Sunday, the No. 11 Wake Forest men's tennis team takes on No. 2-ranked UNC on Friday afternoon. First serve from Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center is set for 3 p.m. ET.

Since the start of the 2016-17 season, Wake Forest has a 32-6 record in away matches. This includes an impressive 20-6 record over the past three seasons.

LAST TIME OUT

Wake Forest kicked off Sunday with a hard-fought 4-0 sweep versus No. 32 VCU. The Demon Deacons began the match by winning doubles and continued that momentum into singles, winning all three matches in straight sets.
The Old Gold and Black continued their dominance in the evening match against Coastal Carolina despite dropping the doubles point. The Deacs took five-of six-singles matches, securing the second win of the day, 5-2.

SERIES HISTORY

North Carolina has a record of 37-22 in the all-time series with Wake Forest. The Tarheels have a mark of 16-6-0 in Chapel Hill.
These two teams first met in 1971, with UNC pulling out a 8-1 win.
Last time out, the Demon Deacons battled to a 4-3 win in the 2019 NCAA Semifinals, completing the season sweep of the Tarheels.
Throwback: Junior Borna Gojo rallied from a set down to defeat North Carolina's William Blumberg, sending the third-ranked Demon Deacons to a 4-3 victory over the Tar Heels and securing a spot in the NCAA Championship match.

SCOUTING UNC

The Tarheels earned two victories in as many days, beating Boston College 7-0 on Saturday and Duke 6-1 on Sunday.
UNC fell to 13-1 this season with a loss to then No. 6 Virginia, 6-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Carolina saw its 15-match winning streak come to an end.
UNC currently has six singles players (No. 33 Rinky Hijikata, No. 61 William Blumberg, No. 66 Brian Cernoch, No. 75 Simon Soendergaard and No. 80 Benjamin Sigouin) and one pair (No. 5 Brian Cernoch and William Blumberg) ranked by the ITA.
