The Demon Deacons must maintain field position inside the top fifteen tomorrow to advance.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The Wake Forest men's golf team improved field position and currently sit inside of the top 15 cutline heading into the third round of stroke play. After Sunday's round, only the top 15 teams will advance.
Senior Parker Gillam was the anchor for the Deacs on the second day, shooting a team-low one under par. The veteran only had one bogey on the day and countered with two birdies to keep the Deacs inside the cut line.
Sophomore Mark Power improved his second round by three strokes while junior Alex Fitzpatrick maintained his steady play and finished one over par for the day after shooting even par on his first 18 holes yesterday.
After two bogeys and just one birdie on his first nine, Power reversed and recorded two birdies and just one bogey on his second nine holes. Fitzpatrick, a Haskins Award finalist, went for straight pars on his final seven holes to close out the day for Wake Forest.
Tee times for the third round will begin at 10:05 a.m. ET on Sunday. Wake Forest will be paired with Sam Houston and Clemson.
