Wake Forest Athletics had 12 programs score a perfect 1000 in the latest Academic Progress Rate scores and four earned perfect multi-year rates.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest Athletics had 12 programs score a perfect 1000 in the latest Academic Progress Rate scores and four earned perfect multi-year rates.

"As we continue to fulfill our goals of providing a World Class Student-Athlete Experience and having Integrity in Academics, these scores are a testament to how hard our student-athletes work in the classroom each day," Senior Associate AD Jane Caldwell said. "I want to thank our Wake Forest faculty, coaches and my staff for their continued commitment and dedication to help our Demon Deacons achieve success in all walks of life during their time in Winston-Salem."

The Wake Forest teams with perfect APR scores were baseball, men's cross country, men's golf, men's tennis, men's track, women's basketball, women's cross country, field hockey, women's golf, women's tennis, women's track & field and volleyball.

The 12 perfect scores are the most in seven years.

Additionally, men's golf, women's basketball, field hockey and women's tennis earned perfect 1000 scores on the APR multi-year rate based on scores from the academic years 2016-17 through 2019-20.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.

The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams. The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or academic term and provides a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in every sport.

From Coach Averill
"The coaching staff is extremely proud of our young women and their ability to balance their short-term goals with long-term aspirations. These accomplishments celebrate all that is positive and inspirational in college athletics. We as a staff are honored to be a part of their success."

From Coach Haas
"There is no better place to be than Wake Forest if you want to receive an excellent education. We are all very proud to be Demon Deacons. Developing champions on and off the field is something we all strive for. Earning a high APR recognition is proof of that process taking shape. We have finished first or second in over 50 percent of our events since 2015. To have our guys perform as well in the classroom as they do on the golf course is something we are extremely proud of. Way to go Deacs!

From Coach Hoover
"I could not be more proud of the hard work our team puts in all areas of their lives. It is not easy to compete in the toughest league in the country and balance the academic expectations. When you become a Demon Deacon, you choose to challenge yourself and commit to being a complete student-athlete. The credit goes to our young ladies, their families and our athletic academic services along with the professors. Our basketball staff is committed to setting these young ladies up for success after college and for the day their basketball career is over. Earning a degree from Wake Forest sets them up for life."

From Coach Wyshner
"I'm very proud that our team earned national APR recognition for the fifth consecutive year. We emphasize doing well in the classroom, but team members really take responsibility for their studies. The credit for our success in the classroom really goes to our players and to Jane Caldwell along with her staff of advisors and tutors. Since this report included 2016-17 through 2019-20, I think it is also important to recognize our three 2020 graduates, Chandler Carter, Lexi Franco and M.C. Meredith, our three 2019 graduates, Emma Davis, Anna Ulyashchenko and Joanna Zalewski, our 2018 graduate, Courtney Meredith and our three 2017 graduates, Samantha Asch, Kimmy Guerin and Luisa Fernandez who were exceptional leaders during their years at Wake Forest."
