The Deacs open the new season against Iowa on August 27 and Michigan on August 29 at the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in Iowa City.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest field hockey and head coach Jennifer Averill has announced a 16-game 2021 schedule, which includes six contests against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents.
"The 2021 schedule is filled with worthy opponents from a variety of conferences," said Averill. "We are excited to host seven home games at Kentner Stadium and look forward to having full capacity in the stands where our loyal fans enjoy their camaraderie as much as the action."
The Deacs are slated to open the season in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in Iowa City against a pair of opponents that are coming off Final Four appearances in Iowa (Aug. 27) and Michigan (Aug. 29) before starting the home portion of the campaign with three consecutive contests at Kentner Stadium versus Appalachian State (Sept. 4), Ohio State (Sept. 10) and James Madison (Sept. 12).
Wake Forest opens ACC play on Sept. 17 in Durham against Duke. Following a battle at Kentner Stadium with the University of Massachusetts two days later, the Deacs welcome conference foe Virginia (Sept. 24) for their home conference opener.
October features four road non-conference contests versus Miami of Ohio (Oct. 3), Davidson (Oct. 17), VCU (Oct. 22) and Richmond (Oct. 24), as well as four ACC matchups. The Deacs will hit the road and travel to Louisville (Oct. 1) and Syracuse (Oct. 8) before returning home to square off with defending national champion North Carolina on Oct. 15 and Boston College on Oct. 29 in their regular season finale
Postseason play opens with the ACC Championship in Syracuse on Nov. 4-7. The first and second rounds of the NCAA Championships are slated to take place on Nov. 12-14 before the Fiinal Four and National Championship game wraps up the season on Nov. 19-21 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
