
Brennan Sits Inside Top 15 After Opening Round of Maridoe Collegiate

Last season, Brennan became the first freshman to record back-to-back wins, taking home the title at the Kiawah Invitational and the Wake Forest Invite at No. 2
CARROLLTON, Texas -- The Wake Forest men's golf team was led by sophomore Michael Brennan in the opening round of the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational Monday.
The tournament played at Maridoe Golf Club marks the first tournament of the 2021-22 season. Both the second and third round of the tournament can be seen on Golf Channel the next two days starting at 4 p.m. ET.
Brennan, who had an impressive start to his freshman campaign a year ago after winning his first two collegiate tournaments, carded the low round for the Demon Deacons in the first round of play.
The Leesburg,Va. native was nearly even on both the front and back nine. He hit the turn at even par including a pair of birdies. Brennan finished the afternoon at one-over par and sits tied for 13th on the individual leaderboard.
Freshman Scotty Kennon made his collegiate debut for the Deacs on Monday as he is currently one of three Wake Forest players to be tied for 55th on the individual leaderboard.
The Demon Deacons are 13th as a team with 36 holes left to play.
Wake Forest will tee off the second round of the Maridoe Collegiate on Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET. The Deacs will be paired with Oklahoma (+2) and Texas Tech (+11), who sit in first and tied for ninth respectively.

RICHMOND, Va. -- Three Wake Forest men's golfers made their fall debuts as individuals at the VCU Shootout in Richmond, Va.
In his first event as a collegiate golfer, freshman Marshall Meisel leads the trio of Demon Deacons at the event. He carded a pair of even par rounds and is just one stroke away from the top 25 on the leaderboard.
Meisel is tied for 28th entering the final day of the tournament.
BJ Rogillio and Daniel Sheedy are both four strokes behind Meisel. Sheedy had a strong finish to the day, turning in a second round 72 (E) with pars on 14 of the 18 holes.
