Wake Forest Set for Road Battle at Syracuse

The Demon Deacons will face the Orange on Sunday afternoon for the team's second conference road match of the season.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Wake Forest women's soccer will travel in its second road conference match of the season on Sunday afternoon when the Demon Deacons travel to Syracuse.

LAST TIME OUT
Wake Forest picked up its ninth shutout win Thursday night, topping the Boston College Eagles 1-0 for its first Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) victory.
Graduate forward Hulda Arnarsdottir notched the game-winner with a finish after a deflection in the keeper's box early in the first half. It was Arnarsdottir's first goal in the Old Gold and Black since October 31, 2019 vs Notre Dame.
The Demon Deacons and Eagles went back-and-forth offensively throughout the night, tying the shot counter at 14 apiece with the Eagles putting seven on frame compared to the Deacs' four.
The shutout was the sixth for goalkeeper Kaitlyn Parks and the ninth clean sheet for the Deacs this season, which leads the country.
STINGY DEFENSE
The Demon Deacons have posted nine shutouts and have scored 24 but only given up one goal to date. The team's 0.11 goals-against average leads all of Division 1. Parks ranks second among all keepers in Division 1 with a 0.12 goals-against average.
The lone blemish came against No. 7 Virginia in a contest won by the Cavaliers, 1-0.
GOOD COMPANY
Wake Forest is one of just four teams in the country with a shutout percentage of .875 or better.
LOCKDOWN DEFENSE
Before giving up a goal vs No. 7 Virginia, Wake Forest's back line tallied 738 scoreless minutes. They limited opponents to a combined 24 shots on goal and 30 corner kicks through nine games.
EVERYONE IS DANGEROUS
Twelve different Deacs have scored at least one goal this season, and five of Deac's 12 goal scorers have scored two or more goals.
NEW PROGRAM SHUTOUT RECORD
Wake Forest held opponents scoreless from the start of the season through the 19:32 mark vs No. 7 Virginia, setting a new program record for longest shutout streak of 739:32.

Wake Forest started the season with eight straight shutouts for the first time in team history.
SCOUTING THE ORANGE
Syracuse enters Sunday's match with an overall record of 4-4-1 and an 0-2-0 mark in ACC play. The Orange dropped their second ACC match, 2-1, against Louisville.
Three leads Syracuse with at least two goals with seven different players have scored a goal for the Oranges.
Goalkeeper Lysianne Proulx has started every contest, going 4-4-1 with a .708 save percentage and 1.52 goals against average.
