WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest Volleyball program and head coach Randi Smart have announced the addition of middle blocker Lauren Strain to the program.
Strain is joining the Demon Deacons after spending the past two seasons at Northern Colorado. Strain helped lead the Bears to the Big Sky Tournament title and the first round of the NCAA Tournament this past season. Strain capped off the 2021 year by being named a First Team All-Big Sky selection as a sophomore.
In 2021, Strain compiled 293 kills over 114 sets and finished sixth in the league with a .304 hitting percentage. She led the Bears on the net with 98 blocks. Strain tallied nine or more kills in 16 of the Bears' 31 matches while adding three or more blocks in 18 of the team's 31 matches on the defensive end.
"We are really excited to add Lauren to our team. She is very competitive and wants to compete at the highest level. She plays very physical and is eager to learn and improve her game. She has such a fun personality and will fit in quickly. I love what she stands for as a person, in the classroom and on the court." - Coach Smart
