Kyle Holcomb Selected by Charlotte FC in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft

With his selection, Kyle Holcomb becomes the 16th Demon Deacon selected in the MLS SuperDraft under head coach Bobby Muuss.
CHARLOTTE -- Entering its inaugural season, Charlotte FC selected Wake Forest men's soccer's Kyle Holcomb with the 29th-overall pick in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft.
Holcomb's selection marks the 16th Demon Deacon to be selected in an MLS SuperDraft under head coach Bobby Muuss.
"Congrats to Kyle on being selected by Charlotte FC in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft. He has prepared for this moment and showcased his talents in the best soccer conference in the country the last four years." Muuss said. "Charlotte is getting a proven goal scorer in its inaugural season."
In four seasons at Wake Forest, the San Marcos, Calif., native collected 33 career goals and 74 career points. His 33 goals are seventh-most in program history while his 74 points collected puts him ninth in program history. At the conclusion of the 2021 season, Holcomb ranked 10th in the country in goals scored amongst active players and most for an ACC player.
Holcomb led the Demon Deacons in scoring each of the last two seasons as Wake Forest extended its ACC-best NCAA Tournament appearances streak to 11-straight years.
In the third round, Holland Rula became the latest Demon Deacon to be selected in the SuperDraft, as the Wake Forest alum was selected by FC Dallas with the 87th-overall pick.
Rula appeared in 75 matches with 43 starts over four seasons in Winston-Salem, registering six points off four assists and one goal.
"Congrats to Holland for being selected by FC Dallas and becoming the latest Wake Forest soccer player to be picked in the MLS SuperDraft. He was a three-year starter for us, continually going up against some of the best players in the country," said Muuss.
