Wake Forest Starts Hokie Invite Strong

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Demon Deacon track and field squads rounded out day one at the Hokie Invitational with three top-3 finishes and six personal bests at Rector Field House.
Graduate student Mackenna Curtis-Collins began her Demon Deacon collegiate career with a silver medal at the 3000m with a 9:29.26 mark. Sophomore Hana Catsimanes placed herself on the 3000m podium with a seven second personal best of 9:37.17 to come in third place.
In the men's weight throw, sophomore Andrew White tossed a 20.40m on his sixth and final attempt to solidify his silver medal. Senior Jack Pihlkar earned himself a top-10 place with a 19.19m throw, collecting a sixth place finish.
Jack Dailey, Emma Soderstrom, Hana Catsimanes, Caroline Garrett, Andrew White, Jacob Goldberg, and Mason Ellis picked up personal bests.
Following this weekend's meet, the Demon Deacons are slated to compete at the Razorback Invite and Bob Pollock Invite, on Jan. 28-29.
