The Demon Deacons suffered their first defeat of the 2022 season in a 3-2 loss to No. 4 Duke.

After going into the halftime break knotted at 0-0, all five goals in the match came in the second half with Duke ultimately scoring the decider in the 77th minute.

How It Happened
Demon Deacon Details of Note
From Coach Muuss
"It was obviously exciting, it was a good college soccer match. It was a little end-to-end. I just told the players that as a fan, I'd love it. As a coach of a losing team, I'm obviously extremely frustrated. The way we conceded was frustrating. We had good chances in the first half and some pretty good chances in the second half to score and go up in the game. We were on top of the game in the first half until the end. We conceded on the restart and then we came right back and scored. And then the gift, credit the player for continuing his run and pressing Trace (Alphin), but that can't happen in ACC games and we know that.
I'm proud of the way the guys continued to fight. I'm disappointed and I feel bad for the fans because they deserved better from us tonight. It was the best atmosphere of the season and we've got to give them a little more to cheer for. All and all, it was a good college soccer game, it's just unfortunate we were on the receiving end." – head coach Bobby Muuss
