No. 4 Wake Forest Set For Midweek Road Match at William & Mary

The Deacs will be looking for an 11th-straight non-conference regular season victory in Tuesday night's test.
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The No. 4 ranked Wake Forest men's soccer team will travel to Virginia to face William & Mary in non-conference action on Tuesday night at the Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.
Kick-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the match will be streamed on FloFC.
The Matchup

Wake Forest and William & Mary will match up for the second time in as many seasons in Tuesday night's contest.

The Deacs enter the meeting as one of two programs with 10 or more wins on the season nationally at 10-2-0, while the Tribe are 3-2-6 so far on the campaign. William & Mary's six draws on the season, including back-to-back ties with the College of Charleston and Elon, ranks second nationally.

Wake Forest will be appearing in its second-straight road match after falling to No. 7 Syracuse last Friday. William & Mary, meanwhile, last took the pitch on Saturday night in a 0-0 draw against current CAA co-leaders Elon.

Wake Forest enters the contest winners of 10-straight regular season matches against non-conference foes dating back to a 4-0 victory over William & Mary on Oct. 5, 2021.

The Deacs rank 12th nationally in goals per match (2.58) while William & Mary has allowed just two goals in the side's last six matches.

This will be the ninth all-time meeting between the two sides and the first in Williamsburg since Oct. 12, 2010.

Wake Forest went 1-1-0 during last week's action, defeating Jacksonville 1-0 on Tuesday at Spry Stadium before falling to Syracuse 2-0 on Friday in a match that featured the ACC Atlantic Division's co-leaders.

The Deacs were unable to overcome an early 2-0 deficit following a penalty kick in the 13th minute and an own goal in the 24th minute.

It marked only the second match this season in which Wake Forest was outshot (18-10) as sophomore goalkeeper Trace Alphin had to register four saves.

Twenty different Demon Deacons logged minutes in the match as Alphin and juniors Garrison Tubbs and Jahlane Forbes went the full 90 minutes.

On the attacking end, the Tribe ranks No. 4 nationally in shot accuracy (0.537) as five different players have scored multiple goals this season. Alexander Levengood leads the squad in points (13) and goals (four) while Diba Nwegbo has registered a team-high six assists.
