Wake Forest Poised for Thursday Night Clash with Boston College in Regular Season Finale

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – In its final regular season match of the 2022 campaign, the Wake Forest women's soccer team will travel to face Boston College Thursday at the Newton Campus Soccer Field.

Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m., and the match will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.

The Matchup

Coming off a 3-0 defeat to Notre Dame, Wake Forest will hit the road for its final regular season contest of the season against Boston College.
Both sides are coming off 3-0 losses as Boston College dropped its final road game of the season to Clemson on Sunday.
The Demon Deacons are 3-4-1 (0-4-0 ACC) on the road this season, with back-to-back 1-0 defeats to No. 2 North Carolina and No. 8 Virginia while playing as visitors.
On the other side, Boston College is 3-3-2 (1-2-1 ACC) as hosts. The Eagles are unbeaten in their last two home matches, with a 1-1 draw with No. 21 Pitt and a 1-0 win over Syracuse. The last home defeat for the Eagles came against No.16 Notre Dame on Sept. 29.
Wake Forest is currently 37th in the RPI rankings, while Boston College is 110th.

Last Time Out

Wake Forest fell to No. 5 Notre Dame, 3-0, Sunday evening at Spry Stadium.
After battling to a 0-0 ledger over the first 28 minutes of action, Notre Dame struck first in the 29th as Kiki Van Zanten fired a shot towards the near post that deflected off the hand of sophomore defender Laurel Ansbrow inside the box. As a result, the Fighting Irish were awarded a penalty kick, which they capitalized on to take a 1-0 lead.
Notre Dame carried its 1-0 advantage into the halftime break and doubled its lead in the 67th minute on a goal from Korbin Albert.
The Demon Deacons had several near scoring opportunities down the stretch, including a Sophie Faircloth free kick and a goalmouth scramble, but were unable to find the net.
With just under four minutes remaining, the Irish scored on a breakaway goal to take a 3-0 lead and held on for the victory.
Redshirt junior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Parks showcased her ability to play as a sweeper-keeper, as she came out of her goal to cut out several Notre Dame attacks. The Upper Marlboro, Md., native finished the match with four saves. Of note, Parks is only four saves shy of reaching the 150-save mark for her career.

Scouting The Eagles

Boston College is 5-8-4 this season and 1-7-1 in ACC play, with its lone ACC victory coming against Syracuse, 1-0.
The Eagles have only scored two goals in nine matches since ACC play began. They are 1-0-1 during that span when they score.
The Eagles are led by Sam Smith, who has six goals in 17 matches.
Laura Gouvin leads the team in assists with three.
Goalkeeper Wiebke Willebrandt is third in the ACC in saves with 67.

Series History

All-time, Wake Forest and Boston College are currently level at 8-8-2.
Last season, Parks earned a shutout victory in this same fixture. Parks finished with a career-high seven saves to help the Demon Deacons secure their first ACC victory of the season.
Wake Forest has not lost in this matchup since 2017 (2-0-2) and is 6-3-2 in the last 11 meetings.
While visiting, the Demon Deacons are 3-6-1.
