WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's basketball team has returned home from Jamaica to host the South Carolina Bulldogs in a midweek non-conference matchup Wednesday night inside Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The Demon Deacons (4-1) are coming off a 77-75 overtime loss to Loyola Marymount in the championship game of the 2022 Jersey Mike's Jamaica Classic this past Sunday (Nov. 20). Tyree Appleby led the way for the Deacs with 19 points, eight assists and eight rebounds.
Appleby leads all Power Five schools in scoring for all players measuring 6' or shorter, averaging 19.0 points per game.
In addition to Appleby's performance on Sunday, Wake Forest was led by junior forward Andrew Carr, who posted a solid all-around game with 10 points, eight rebounds, two blocked shots and one steal. It was a career night for Matthew Marsh, as the sophomore recorded a career-high 14 points on a 6-of-7 clip from the field.
The contest against LMU was the first this season in which every Wake Forest player who got in the game scored at least two points and pulled down at least one rebound.
Wednesday night's tipoff inside LJVM is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET and the game will air live on ACC Network.
