
Wake Forest Hosting Clemson with Spot in the ACC Championship on the Line

The Deacs and Tigers will meet Wednesday evening in an ACC Tournament semifinals showdown.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 4 seeded Wake Forest men's soccer team will look to clinch its seventh all-time appearance in the ACC Championship when the Demon Deacons host No. 8 seeded Clemson in the ACC Tournament semifinals on Wednesday night at Spry Stadium.
Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the match will air nationally on the ACC Network.

Tickets for Wednesday's match are on sale now starting at $5 on the Walt Chyzowych Alumni Hill. Additional options for the semifinals match include bleacher general admission at $10 and reserved chairbacks at $15.

The Matchup

Wake Forest and Clemson will meet for the second time this season with each side 4-1-0 in its last five appearances on the 2022 slate.

After clinching a first round bye in the ACC Tournament, Wake Forest opened postseason play on Sunday afternoon downing No. 12 seeded Virginia Tech 1-0 at Spry Stadium.

Clemson, meanwhile, has won its first two ACC Tournament matches, first defeating No. 9 seeded Notre Dame 3-1 last Wednesday before handing No. 1 seeded Duke its first loss of the season in a 2-0 decision on Sunday.

Prior to Syracuse winning the ACC Atlantic Division this season, either Wake Forest or Clemson had won at least a share of the division each of the last eight seasons.

This will be the first ACC Tournament meeting between the two programs since the Demon Deacons defeated the Tigers 2-1 in the semifinals of the 2017 ACC Tournament. Wake Forest went on to win the tournament title that year, completing a back-to-back for the first time in program history.

Wake Forest secured a quarterfinals victory on Sunday afternoon, as the Deacs knocked off Virginia Tech 1-0 at Spry Stadium.

The Demon Deacons finished the contest with significant advantages over the Hokies in shots (15-5), corner kicks (4-0) and percentage of possession (55-45).

The lone goal of the afternoon came courtesy of senior Omar Hernandez, who's topshelf free kick goal beat Hokies goalkeeper Ben Martino in the 62nd minute.

Scouting The Tigers

Clemson enters Wednesday's match sporting a 12-5-1 record, as the Tigers have won their last four matches by a combined score of 11-2.

The most recent outing for the Tigers came in a 2-0 victory over No. 1 seeded Duke, handing the Blue Devils their first loss of the season. Entering the match, Duke was one of only three schools in the country remaining without a loss alongside Washington and Kentucky.

On the attack, the Tigers have been led by the one-two punch of Ousmane Sylla (five goals and six assists) and Mohamed Seye (four goals and six assists).

Joseph Andema has started the last nine matches in goal for Clemson. On the season, he's appeared in 13 total matches to record 36 saves and eight goals allowed.
