
Deacs Rematch Georgia at ITA Indoor Championships

SEATTLE – The No. 6 Wake Forest men's tennis team is set to compete at the 2022 ITA Indoor National Championships in Seattle this weekend. The tournament will run Friday-Monday, Feb. 18-21. The Deacs face 9th-seeded Georgia Friday, with first serve scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET from the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center.
On Wednesday, the ITA announced the Deacs as the No. 8 seed in the 16-team field. After defeating No. 16 Michigan and Notre Dame at the ITA Kickoff Weekend, Wake Forest advanced to ITA Indoors for the for the sixth time since 2016.
Live scoring and live stream will be provided by Washington and will be posted on the Tournament Central Page by Friday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Deacs team dropped its second-straight road match, losing at No. 1-ranked Ohio State, 7-0. The Buckeyes claimed a 1-0 advantage after winning the doubles point, before winning four first-set en route to taking the match. The Deacs dropped doubles matches on courts two and three, ahead of singles action. In singles, Ohio State won on courts two and four, before clinching the match on court five.
SCOUTING GEORGIA
Friday's match marked the 19th all-time meeting between the Deacs and Bulldogs. Before 2017, Georgia had won 16-straight over the Deacs but within the last three meetings, Wake Forest had defeated Georgia in 4-3 fashion. The Bulldogs are coming off a 4-3 win over Georgia Tech.

Wake Forest's side of the bracket has No. 1-seed Ohio State, No. 4-seed Florida, No. 5-seed TCU, No. 8-seed Wake Forest, No. 9-seed Georgia, No. 12-seed Virginia, No. 13-seed Texas and host No. 16-seed Washington.
2018 INDOOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
In 2018, then-top-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team won its first-ever national championship, defeating No. 7 UCLA, 4-2, to win the 2018 ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
Senior Skander Mansouri, ranked 22nd nationally, clinched the match for the Demon Deacons with a 6-4, 7-6(7) victory over No. 107 Keegan Smith of UCLA.
Wake Forest was forced to come back twice against the Bruins, as the Deacs fell into an early 1-0 hole as well as a 2-1 deficit.
