Cameron is entering her third season with the program and helped lead the Demon Deacons to the Round of 32 of the 2021 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest women's soccer's Brittany Cameron has been promoted to the role of Associate Head Coach, the program announced on Monday.
"First and foremost, I would like to thank Wake Forest University, Tony da Luz and Craig Zakrzewski for their steadfast guidance and support while giving me this opportunity at such a prestigious school and program," Cameron said. "I am proud of what we have accomplished together the last two seasons and look forward to continuing to add to the rich history of Wake Forest women's soccer while competing against the very best programs in the top conference in the country."
"Brittany has earned this opportunity and been a great addition to our program," da Luz added. "She has shown all of the qualities that the best coaches in the country possess and I have no doubt that she will continue to provide outstanding leadership for our student-athletes on the field and in the classroom."
Cameron becomes the only Black woman at the Power Five level to hold the title of either Associate Head Coach or Head Coach, as her trailblazing path has and continues to serve as inspiration for others. Additionally, this winter, Cameron was announced as the new goalkeeper coach for the United States U-20 Youth National Team as they won the gold medal at the CONCACAF U-20 Championship in the Dominican Republic.
Cameron recently completed her second season at Wake Forest, helping guide the Demon Deacons to a 16-6-0 record and an appearance in the Round of 32 of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship.
Wake Forest began the season logging eight-straight clean sheets while outscoring opponents 23-0. After earning a spot in the 2021 ACC Women's Soccer Championship, Wake Forest also earned its highest-ranked victory in program history in the first round, defeating No. 2 Duke 2-1.
The Demon Deacons had three United Soccer Coaches All-Region selections including goalkeeper Kaitlyn Parks who also became the first Wake Forest All-American selection since 2011 as she earned 14 wins with nine clean sheets. Parks became the first player in ACC history to be announced as the conference's Defensive Player of the Week in consecutive weeks.
In her first season in Winston-Salem in 2020-21, the Demon Deacons scored five victories including a 1-0 decision over No. 14 Notre Dame.
Prior to her time at Wake Forest, the Dublin, Calif., native previously coached at San Francisco State (2018-19), Dartmouth (2012-13), Niagara (2011) and her alma mater, San Diego (2009).
