GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest baseball sophomore infielder Jake Reinisch was named Co-Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Reinisch earned the first weekly ACC accolade of his career after leading Wake Forest in nearly every offensive category this past week. Reinisch notched a base hit in every game, highlighted by a pair of multi-hit performances, to extend his hitting streak to five.
Additionally, the sophomore tallied an extra-base hit in three games over the week and hit a home run in back-to-back games against the Tar Heels, marking the second time of his career Reinisch has blasted a long fly in consecutive games.
In the series finale at North Carolina on Sunday, Reinisch posted a career-high four hits with a career-high-tying four RBIs to lead Wake Forest to an 11-2 win.
In the top of the fifth inning, Reinisch launched a grand slam, the first of his career, to help Wake Forest post their 21st inning with five runs or more and increase the Demon Deacons' lead to 10-1.
This season, Reinisch's 48 walks leads the ACC and is tied for ninth all-time in program history. Additionally, Reinisch sits third in the ACC with a .493 on-base percentage.
