Four Deacs Named to ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Four members of the Wake Forest baseball program were named to the 2022 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region Atlantic Team, as announced by the organization on Wednesday morning. Rhett Lowder and Brendan Tinsman were voted to the first team, while Nick Kurtz and Brock Wilken garnered second team honors.
The accolade is the latest for the group as Lowder, Tinsman, Kurtz and Wilken continue to receive postseason recognition for their outstanding 2022 campaigns. Lowder (Second Team), Tinsman (Third Team) and Kurtz (Freshman) were all tabbed as All-Americans by Collegiate Baseball. Additionally, Lowder, Kurtz and Wilken received invitations to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Camp in Cary, N.C. from Thursday, June 30 to Monday, July 4.
Wake Forest's four 2022 honorees are the second most in the ACC and the second most in program history, trailing only the 2017 squad with six. Overall, 20 Demon Deacons have received All-Region honors since 2003.

Lowder, Tinsman and every First Team honoree from all eight regions are now nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors, which will be announced the morning of Friday, June 17.
The group was instrumental throughout a memorable 2022 Wake Forest baseball season. The Demon Deacons finished the campaign with 41 victories, the fifth most in program history. The Deacs increased their win total by 21 games from last season (41 wins to 20 wins), the largest year-to-year turnaround in program history.
Wake Forest was selected to the 2022 NCAA Baseball Tournament, the program's 14th appearance in the national playoffs, after posting the program's seventh 40-win season.
The Demon Deacons ended the regular season with 39 wins, tying the 1999 Deacs for the second-most regular season wins in program history.
