Courtney Drummond joins the program as an assistant coach and will oversee player development with an emphasis on midfield.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest head women's soccer coach Tony da Luz announced the addition of Assistant Coach Courtney Drummond Monday.
Drummond comes to Wake Forest after eleven seasons at City SC Carlsbad, including 15 years of coaching experience.
"I am thrilled to announce the addition of Courtney Drummond to our staff," Coach da Luz said. "Courtney brings extensive coaching and player development experience, has established great relationships in the national club coaching network and is a strong motivator. She is well respected by her peers and her players rave about her energy and enthusiasm. Courtney's vision and passion for the game is a perfect fit for Wake Forest."
As an assistant coach at CSUSM, Drummond helped mentor 28 all-conference selections and 6 All-Americans. The Cougars have won three more conference titles and have appeared in four more NAIA tournaments with her on the sideline.
"I am so grateful and humbled by the opportunity to join the Wake Forest family," Drummond said "I'd like to thank Tony Da Luz, Brittany Cameron and Craig Zakrzewski for the chance to join the women's soccer staff and become a part of the Demon Deacon family. I am looking forward to returning to the college game. To be able to do it in the ACC is still a bit surreal. It is an honor and privilege to be a part of a program and University with such deep history and prestige."
Before Drummond left CSUSM in May 2016, she was a key part of the University and Athletics Department transition to NCAA Division II. Drummond left CSUSM to concentrate on ushering in and becoming the Girls U.S. Soccer Development Academy Director at LA Galaxy San Diego.
As a player, Drummond started 72 of 73 matches in which she appeared with CSUSM. She scored a record seven goals as a freshman in the program's first season and helped CSUSM to back-to-back Association of Independent Institutions conference titles in 2008 and 2009. Drummond also appeared in two NAIA National Championships.
