Welcome to Wake Forest, Audrey Douglas and Emmy Ogogor!
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest volleyball family just grew stronger, as head coach Randi Smart announced the signing of two transfers, Audrey Douglas and Emmy Ogogor, on Thursday (June 30).
Douglas will have three years of eligibility remaining, while Ogogor comes in with two.
The pair make up Wake Forest's second and third transfers in 2022.
Douglas, a 6'4" middle blocker, arrives from Auburn, where she spent the last two seasons. As a first-year player in 2020, she started in five matches, ultimately finishing third in hitting percentage and fourth in total blocks for the Tigers. Against nationally-ranked No. 3 Kentucky on November 8, 2020, Douglas recorded a career-best six kills on a .545 attacking clip.
A native of Winter Park, Florida, Douglas enjoyed a highly successful high school career. Her resume at Hagerty High School holds a number of accolades and accomplishments, including:
-
2019 Prep Volleyball All-American
-
2019 Prep Volleyball Senior Ace
-
Three-time all-conference selection (2016-18)
-
Two-time all-state honoree (2017-18)
-
2017 Prep Volleyball Sophomore 79
Douglas guided Hagerty to a trio of top-five finishes at state competition, including a runner-up finish in 2016.
Douglas' presence on the club scene was even more impressive, as she was named an Open AAU national champion for three consecutive years (2014-16). Additionally, she collected four Big South Open Championships from 2016 to 2019 and won three NIT Open Championships (2017-19).
Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, Ogogor competed at West Virginia from 2020-21. A 2020 Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection, she made appearances in 36 matches throughout her tenure with the Mountaineers. Likewise to Douglas, Ogogor also plays at the middle blocker spot, standing at 6'1." This past fall, she was a top-five team player for West Virginia in kills (115) and blocks (58.0). Her 12 kills versus Oklahoma (Sept. 25), on a 75% hitting mark, and eight blocks against Baylor (Oct. 23) were all season-bests. Ogogor played for Illinois State during her freshman campaign in 2019. She was a major factor at each of her past two institutions, as both West Virginia and Illinois State made the NCAA tournament.
During her high school days, Ogogor was a four-year letterwinner for the Panthers of Sandra Day O'Connor High School. She led her squad to back-to-back regional championship titles (2018-19) while notching a first team all-district selection along the way. Ogogor also stood out in the classroom, attaining academic all-district honors through two years. Off the court, she was a standout track athlete, twice being named the Helotes High Jumper of the Year (2017-18). Ogogor played for the San Antonio Magic in club volleyball competition.
This past fall, Wake Forest produced its first winning season since 2010, finishing 15-14 overall.
