Wake Forest is the only ACC school to have at least one player named to the Rimington Trophy, Biletnikoff Award, Doak Walker Award, Davey O’Brien Award and Maxwell Award Preseason Watch Lists.
New York, NY – For the fifth consecutive day this week, the Wake Forest football program had a player named to a national watch list. Friday morning, redshirt junior offensive lineman Michael Jurgens was named a Rimington Trophy Watch List member.
The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding center in NCAA Division I College Football. Since its inception, the award has raised over $5 million for the Boomer Esiason Foundation.
Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only two-time winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.
Jurgens, who just represented the Deacs as one of three student-athletes at the ACC Kickoff in Charlotte, N.C., has been a nominee for the award the past two seasons and enters his third year as a starter and second as a Wake Forest captain.
Additionally with Jurgens being named to the list, Wake Forest is the only ACC school and one of just for schools in the country to have at least one player named to:
