Wake Forest Concludes Three-Match Homestand Against Fairleigh Dickinson

Wake Forest and Fairleigh Dickinson will meet for the first time as the Demon Deacons look to continue a hot start.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest's No. 4 ranked men's soccer team will host its third-straight home match on Tuesday night, facing Fairleigh Dickinson in non-conference action at Spry Stadium. 

Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the match will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.

Wake Forest Athletics is committed to providing the Best Fan Experience in North Carolina within a safe and fan-friendly environment. Tuesday night will serve as NC Rush Triad Night at Spry, as they will be providing ball kids, anthem buddies and scrimmaging during halftime.

Ticket Information
2022 Wake Forest soccer season tickets are on-sale now giving fans the opportunity to witness The Best Fan Experience In North Carolina from a number of unique seating options. Season tickets start as low as $45 and offer as much as a $220 savings off of purchasing individual single game tickets. 

New to the ticketing menu this year are five and 10 game FLEX options, giving fans maximum flexibility when choosing which home games to attend. FLEX season ticket members will simply open their digital FLEX account, and add or remove games as they decide which dates they are available to attend. Members may even use multiple admissions for a single game to bring a friend, family member or guest with them. If more FLEX tickets are needed, additional admissions may be purchased through the Wake Forest Ticket Office. FLEX admissions are able to be used for redemption at both men's and women's soccer games.

The Matchup 

  • Tuesday night's match will be the first-ever meeting between Wake Forest and Fairleigh Dickinson. 

  • The Deacs will enter with a 5-0-0 overall record, most recently defeating NC State by a final of 2-0 on Saturday night. 

  • Wake Forest dominated possession and took advantage of a 15th-minute penalty kick for sophomore Roald Mitchell to go up 1-0 before senior David Wrona ensured the Demon Deacon victory with a goal of his own in the 79th minute. 

  • Wake Forest is 4-0-0 in non-conference action this season, with three of those victories coming at Spry Stadium (UCF, Air Force and Winthrop). 

  • Fairleigh Dickinson, meanwhile, is 2-2-1 on the year, most recently falling on the road to Seton Hall 1-0 on Friday evening. 

  • The Knights have been stout defensively as they have allowed just four goals in five matches. 

Last Time Out

  • Wake Forest opened ACC play with a 2-0 victory over NC State, pushing the Demon Deacons' undefeated streak against the Wolfpack to 21-straight matches. 

  • Sophomore Roald Mitchell scored his fourth goal of the season on a 15th-minute penalty kick before senior David Wrona returned to log his first goal of the season.

  • On Wrona's goal, sophomore Ryan Fessler and Julian Kennedy collected assists. They became the 14th and 15th Demon Deacons respectively this season to record an assist through five matches.  

  • Wake Forest allowed just one shot all night and none on target. It marked the second time in three matches (UAB) that the Deacs did not allow a shot on goal. 

Great To Be Home

  • With Wake Forest's 2-0 victory over NC State on Saturday evening, the Demon Deacons are currently riding an 11-match home winning streak dating back to a 4-0 decision over William & Mary on Oct. 5, 2021. 

  • The 11-match home winning streak is the second-longest in program history, trailing the 12-match winning streak at Spry Stadium from Aug. 24-Nov. 4, 2018. 

  • The current 11-match home winning streak is also the longest in the country, three ahead of Lipscomb. 

  • Since the beginning of the 2015 season, Wake Forest has won 87 matches at Spry Stadium as the Deacs have won 18 more home games than any other program during that span. 

Scouting the Knights

  • Fairleigh Dickinson will enter Tuesday night's contest sporting a 2-2-1 record on the year, as the Knights have secured victories over Lafayette (1-0) and Navy (1-0) while also drawing with Army (1-1). In their most recent outing, the Knights fell to Seton Hall by a 1-0 decision. 

  • Three different Fairleigh Dickinson players have scored on the campaign, led by Tony Gomez's two goals. 

  • Defensively, the Knights have conceded just four goals on the campaign as Spencer King has made 20 saves and has a 0.833 goals against average.  

Looking Ahead

  • Wake Forest will play its first of four ACC road matches on Friday evening, facing Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. 

  • Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and the match will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
