Seattle Bowl winner returns to Winston-Salem after a successful four-year career with the Deacs.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Former Wake Forest safety Quintin Williams will be leading the Demon Deacons out for their ACC opener against the Clemson Tigers this Saturday.
During his time in Winston-Salem from 2000 to 2003, Williams racked up 263 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and eight interceptions. He played 44 total games of a possible 47 over that span, starting 42, including the last 30 games of his career.
He also tallied 24 pass breakups, including a career-high 11 his sophomore season as he helped lead the Demon Deacons to a Seattle Bowl victory over Oregon.
The Goldsboro, N.C. native had his most productive season in 2003. He finished second on the team in tackles with a career-high 88 stops, four tackles-for-loss and a team-high three fumble recoveries.
His 148 interception-return yards rank 10th in Wake Forest history, with an average return of 18.5 yards.
The 2004 Wake Forest graduate earned his MBA in Business down the road at High Point University in 2011.
Today, Williams continues to serve the Winston-Salem community as the Chief Operating Officer of Debbie's Staffing Services. He has been with the company since 2006, working his way up from a training and development manager, to vice president until eventually taking over as C.O.O. in 2021.
Open the Gate Information & 2022 Honorees
The Open the Gate tradition has been an important and unique aspect of football games since its inception in 2008. This allows Wake Forest to honor individuals that make its University and Winston-Salem community so special. Honorees ride on the back of the motorcycle with the Demon Deacon mascot and lead the football team onto Truist Field. The first ever honoree was Wake Forest and Winston-Salem legend, Chris Paul.
