My Story: Julia Murray

How the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Stroke Center Played a Role in the Life of Wake Forest Cheerleader Julia Murray

10/24/2023

In 2022, Wake Forest cheerleader Julia Murray had a stroke at only 19 years of age. Thanks to the help of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Stroke Center, Julia is now back at Wake Forest and cheering on the Demon Deacons.

Wake Forest men's basketball Charity Game

Johnetta Forbes, the wife of men's basketball head coach Steve Forbes, also suffered a stroke this past summer. As such, Wake Forest men's basketball is excited to host a charity exhibition game this Sunday, October 29, to benefit a cause close to their hearts: the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Stroke Center. The Demon Deacons will take on Alabama at 1:00 p.m.

While admission to the event is free, a voluntary donation of $20 is recommended. Fans can give at the event, or give directly to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist at giving.wakehealth.edu/GivetoStroke. Gift will help accelerate cutting-edge stroke research, allowing patients access to the newest treatments as Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Stroke Center can shape the future of stroke care.
