Demon Deacons to Host Open Practice at LJVM Coliseum

The Wake Forest women’s basketball team will host an open practice at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, Nov. 4.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Ahead of the much-anticipated 2023-24 season, the Wake Forest women's basketball team will be hosting an open practice at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, Nov. 4.
 
Come get your first look at this year's squad with doors opening for the two-hour practice at 10 a.m. Parking is free in the Pepsi Lot, fans are encouraged to come through the West Gate Lobby entrance and will be directed to section 101. Concessions will not be open for the event.
 
Following the practice, there will be an opportunity to meet the team and get autographs from your favorite members of the team. Head coach Megan Gebbia will also speak during the autograph session as well as take questions about this year's team.
 
Autograph cards will be available but Wake Forest fans can also bring items to be signed.
 
Wake Forest Women's Basketball Overview
Wake Forest is coming off a historic first season under head coach Megan Gebbia that included a memorable three-day run at the ACC Tournament and a run to the second round of the WNIT.
During Gebbia's first season:
  • 17 wins tied the most since the 2011-12 season
  • Tallied the most wins against ACC opponents by a first-year head coach and the most wins overall under a first-year coach
  • Wins over four NCAA Tournament teams including wins over two Elite Eight teams
  • Grabbed 12 wins at home, the fourth-highest total in program history
  • Finished second in program history with 227 threes made
  • Ended the season ranked fourth in program history with 123 blocks
  • Held ACC opponents at home to just 19.2 percent shooting from three
  • Limited five of nine ACC teams at home to one or less three-pointer made
2023-24 Slate
Highlighted by a showdown in the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge against Texas A&M, the Demon Deacons non-conference slate features 12 contests, including seven at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. 
 
The Deacs will tip off the 2023-24 season on Monday, Nov. 6, squaring off with last season's SoCon runner-up Wofford, before traveling to take on in-state foe Davidson on Saturday, Nov. 11.
 
The Demon Deacons will then return home to face NC A&T on Wednesday, Nov. 15, before embarking on an expedition to The Aloha State for the annual North Shore Showcase on Nov. 18 and 20.
 
Starting with a clash against last year's Big East runner-up Villanova, the Deacs will have four-consecutive home games against Texas A&M, Charlotte and Norfolk State. Of note, Villanova reached the Sweet 16 a season ago.
 
Game times and broadcast information for each of the Demon Deacons' 12 non-conference games will be announced at a later date.
