CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Ahead of their 2023 ACC Field Hockey Championship quarterfinal matchup with No. 2 Duke tomorrow, Nat Friedman and Grace Delmotte were both named to the Atlantic Coast Conference postseason awards list, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
"Nat's skillset and flexibility this year playing both lines has been instrumental in our development and progress this season," head coach Jen Averill said. "Grace's ability to break lines with her speed and skill is next level. We are very proud of them to represent Wake in the talented ACC group."
Nat Friedman, First Team All-ACC
Graduate midfielder/back Nat Friedman received All-ACC honors for the fourth-straight season as the Towson, Md. native appeared and started in all 16 matches in 2023. The First Team nod is the first of Friedman's career, having previously been named Second Team in the past three seasons by the league.
Anchoring the back line for Wake Forest this season, Friedman led Wake Forest to an ACC-leading seven shutouts during the regular season. The Towson, Md. product also got involved offensively with a pair of goals and two assists to bring her career point total to 35. Friedman sat in the top 25 in the ACC all season in shots per game, averaging 1.31 during the regular season.
Grace Delmotte, Second Team All-ACC
Senior midfielder Grace Delmotte was named to the All-ACC Second Team for the third time in her career and second-straight season, appearing in all 16 matches and starting 15 in 2023.
Delmotte picked up her first point of the season at Longwood, assisting Friedman's game winner against the Lancers. The Vancouver native leads the active roster with 41 career points during her time as a Demon Deacon.
The seven-seeded Wake Forest field hockey team opens postseason play against the two-seeded Duke Blue Devils in the 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Turf Field on the campus of the University of Virginia at 3:30 p.m.
