The Demon Deacons earned an at-large bid to the national meet Saturday.
INDIANAPOLIS — For the fourth-consecutive season, the Wake Forest men's cross country program has earned a bid to the NCAA Championships, as announced by the NCAA Saturday evening.
The Demon Deacons were one of 13 teams to earn an at-large bid after an impressive fourth place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional Friday.
"To qualify with such a young, inexperienced team took courage and toughness," said director of track & field and cross country John Hayes. "Our group, every one of them, fought to secure our bid. This will be a moment they can always be proud of. After not qualifying for nearly 20 years, this is the fourth-straight year we are going to the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Only 10 percent of teams make it, so these young men should be proud."
With the nod, the Deacs earned their fourth-straight NCAA Championship appearance, marking the longest such streak in program history.
