Deacs Travel to Athens to Face Bulldogs

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest men's basketball gears up for its first road test of the new season, traveling to the University of Georgia (0-1) for a Friday night (Nov. 10) matchup against the Bulldogs. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET inside Stegeman Coliseum.
The Deacons are coming off a 101-78 season-opening victory over Elon on Monday night (Nov. 6) inside LJVM Coliseum. The Demon Deacons (1-0) outscored the Phoenix 58-23 in the second half. As a team, the Deacs went 37-of-65 (56.9 percent) from the floor and 19-of-21 (90.5 percent) from the free throw line.
Cameron Hildreth exploded for a career-high 33 points to kick off his junior campaign, adding six rebounds and a game-high five assists within 39 minutes, which led all individuals. The Worthing, England native was exceptionally efficient in his paint drives, going 13-of-18 from the field.
Andrew Carr had a career night of his own, finishing with a new personal best of 24 rebounds. The 6-11 forward was a force on the glass and defensive end, chipping in nine rebounds and four blocks, both game highs. He only missed two total shots on the night (7-of-9).
Making their Deacon debuts, guards Hunter Sallis and Kevin Miller chipped in 19 and 17 points, respectively. Both newcomers shot 50 percent or better from the floor, with Miller also pulling down five rebounds. Sallis' point total was the highest of his collegiate career, surpassing his previous high of 16 points set as a freshman at Gonzaga University.

The Bulldogs finished third in KenPom's tempo ranking of SEC teams in conference play during the 2022-23 season and look to maintain that pace in 2023-24. Last season, Georgia upped its win total from the 2021-22 campaign by 10 victories, which equaled the second-biggest increase in regular-season wins by any Power 5 program last season.
Georgia's four returning letterwinners include Bulldogs who led the team in the following stats last season – Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe (5.1 rpg), Jabri Abdur-Rahim (1.4 three-point field goals per game, .387 three-point pct. and .818 free-throw pct) and Frank Anselem-Ibe (0.7 bpg).
