White Breaks School Record at JDL DMR Invitational

The Demon Deacons will now turn their attention to the 2023 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - In their final regular season meet of the 2023 indoor season, the Wake Forest men's and women's indoor track & field teams posted several top performances Saturday at the JDL DMR Invitational at JDL Fast Track.
Graduate student Andrew White continued his stellar 2023 indoor season as the Canton, Ohio native became the first Demon Deacon in program history to break the 22m barrier in the weight throw. White tossed an impressive 22.06m, breaking his previous school record by nearly one meter.
Juniors Mason Ellis (17.87m) and Jacob Goldberg (17.74m) also had solid performances in the weight throw as they finished in third and fourth, respectively.
Wake Forest dominated the women's weight throw as freshman Sophie Perez Gonzalez (17.67m), senior Katrina Andreassen (17.66m) and freshman Casey Sullivan (14.94m) finished in first, second and third, respectively.
Highlighted by Thomas Kitchell's meet record (18.66m), the Demon Deacons finished first, second and third in the men's shot put behind strong performances from Ellis and senior Connor Mathis. The Deacs also posted top marks in the women's shot put as sophomore Ashlyn Giles and Sullivan took the top two spots.
Of note, Wake Forest won four events between the two programs. Additionally, the Demon Deacons recorded 10 top-three finishes.
