Wake Forest to Host Boston College for Senior Night

2/27/2023 3:38:00 PM | Men's Basketball

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's basketball team hosts the Boston College Eagles on Tuesday night inside LJVM for the home finale of the season. The Demon Deacons will take on the Eagles at 7 p.m. ET live on ESPNU.

Wake Forest (18-11, 10-8) is coming off a home win Saturday night (Feb. 25) against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 66-58. Wake is currently eighth in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) standings while the Eagles are 10th. The Deacs have won four-straight regular season contests against the Eagles for the first time since the series began in 1981.

Saturday's win marked a regular-season sweep over the Fighting Irish. The Deacs were most successful shooting from distance during the first half, tallying a 44.4 three-point percentage. The team ended with 12 trey balls by the evening's conclusion, marking the third consecutive game of 12 or more made threes.

Making the first start of his collegiate career, Bobi Klintman stood out to notch his second season double-double, posting 10 points and hauling in a season-high tying 12 rebounds. The freshman forward also reached a new high in minutes, playing just over 35.

Tyree Appleby created his usual crowd excitement, making a plethora of plays for a final line of a game-high 21 points, six points, and sinking five triples. Andrew Carr was a presence on both ends of the floor, contributing 11 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks.

Making his first appearance since mid-December, Lucas Taylor provided a spark as a reserve. The sophomore guard chipped in six points on two threes made with two assists and two rebounds, along with collecting a steal. Matthew Marsh added seven points and six rebounds with another perfect-shooting game (3-of-3 on field goals).

The Eagles are 14-15 on the season at 8-10 in conference play. They are coming off a top-25 win against then-No. 6 Virginia last Tuesday. Boston College has now defeated three top-25 teams this season. Makai Ashton-Langford scored 16 points, Jaeden Zackery had all 12 of his points in the second half and Boston College held Virginia to a season-low 32 percent from the field. Quinten Post leads the Eagles in conference play with 15.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per ACC game. Boston College is 3-6 in league games on the road and the Deacs have not lost to the Eagles at home in Steve Forbes' tenure.

Senior Night Celebration
Come celebrate our seniors with our Senior Night recognition taking place pre-game at 6:40 p.m. The team will honor senior players Tyree Appleby, Daivien Williamson and Grant van Beveren along with managers Harrison Seagle, Josh Knight and graduate manager Isaiah Tisdale. Senior members of band, cheer and dance will also be recognized at halftime.

Gary Strickland, the longest tenured official scorer in the ACC, will also be honored at halftime, along with long-time public address announcer Jeffrey Griffin.
