The Demon Deacons have two singles players and three doubles pairings ranked, heading into next week's NCAA selection show.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – After defeating three-consecutive top 60 players in dual singles matches at the 2023 ACC Championships, senior Melios Efstathiou has been tabbed the No. 2 ranked singles player nationally, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Tuesday.
The nod comes after Efstathiou defeated then-No. 13 Garrett Johns, then-No. 49 Ryan Fishback and then-No. 58 Rafael Iziquierdo Luque in a three-day span last week, leading Wake Forest to its seventh ACC semifinal appearance in the last eight years.
This season, the Limassol, Cyprus native has accumulated a 21-4 dual singles record, including a perfect 5-0 mark over his last five matches.
In addition to Efstathiou, graduate student Jurabek Kairmov came in at No. 104 in the ITA's latest singles rankings.
In doubles, the Demon Deacons have three pairs ranked as Filippo Moroni/Matthew Thomson (No. 31), Filippo Moroni/Juan Lopez de Azcona (No. 38) and Jurabek Karimov/Luciano Tacchi (No. 39) all made an appearance on this week's list.
