CHARLESTON, S.C. – Wake Forest men's basketball has landed a spot in the 2023 Shriners Children's Charleston Classic, announced on Thursday (May 11).
The event's competition is slated to run November 16-19, played at TD Arena in Charleston, South Carolina.
Wake Forest will be one of eight teams participating, joining a pool of opponents that includes Dayton, Houston, LSU, North Texas, St. John's, Towson and Utah.
November will feature the Demon Deacons' second all-time appearance in the yearly event, with its first happening during the 2016-17 campaign. The Charleston Classic made its debut in November 2008.
The family-friendly event offers teams a week of practice, play and experiences in and around historic Charleston. Information on travel packages, tickets and more is available at the Charleston Classic website. Tickets will be available for purchase following the announcement of the complete tournament schedule later this summer. In the meantime, fans can secure first access to the best seats and all-tournament tickets by signing up for the pre-sale at www.charlestonclassic.com.
Head coach Steve Forbes is entering his fourth season at the helm of the Deacs' program, as the team went 19-14 overall this past winter. Additionally, Wake Forest advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) tournament for the first time since 2009 while graduate guard Tyree Appleby became the first-ever player to lead the league in scoring and assists for a single season.
