Second Round Surge Propels Deacs Up Leaderboard

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team recorded the lowest round in the field and the only under-par round in Tuesday's second round of NCAA Regional play at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
The Deacs led the way with a three-under score of 285 in the second round, moving up four spots on the leaderboard to a tie for third. Wake Forest will enter Wednesday's final round two strokes inside the final cut line.
As a team, Wake is second in scoring on par five holes, averaging one under, is third in scoring on par fours, and has recorded the third-most pars in the field with 130.
Wake Forest was led by sophomore Carolina Chacarra on Tuesday, as the Spainard recorded five birdies to finish four-under on the day. She started the day with four birdies on her first nin holes, three of which came consecutively from holes 15-17. The first one came on the par-four 13th.
Senior Rachel Kuehn was also under par in the second round. She started the day with a birdie on the par-four 10th before making two more before the turn. She had one birdie on the second nine to finish the day three under.
Emilia Migliaccio finished one over in the second round and Mimi Rhodes went three over on the day. Lauren Walsh went five over in her second round.
Wednesday's Final Round
Wednesday's final round will begin at 8:00 a.m. with tee times off the first and 10th tee. Wake Forest will be paired with NC State and Arizona State with tee times starting at 9:06 in 11-minute intervals off the 1st tee. At the end of play Wednesday, the top five teams and the top individual on a non-advancing team will advance to the NCAA Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, May 19-24.
